Hand Pieced QAL 2019 - second set of blocks (7-8)

Here’s my alternate version of Block 7 and 8 in the Hand-Pieced QAL.

Block 7

  • Block info:
    • the Eula-block, or Sawtooth Star block with a Diamond in a Square center and snowballed corners. I had already sewn the darker pink sashing on this one when I took the photo.
    • every fabric for this came from the stash at Arbis, because I got inspired by the three solids and one flower fabric someone had donated. One peach, one pale pink, one light violet, and one large print flower fabric in total.
    • block cut with regular rotary cutter + rulers, then sewn with Gutermann Mara 120 (100% polyester) in color 1.

Block 8

  • Block info:
    • the Bess-block, or a Sawtooth Star block with a Diamond in a Square center and snowballed corners.  I had already sewn the darker pink sashing on this one when I took the photo.
    • I totally forgot to take a photo of it before I had started sewing on the sashings, that's why it has the start on a pink border around it.

Info about this quilt, written in a previous blog post:

This second set of blocks has pastel colors, where the ones for the Discovery-quilt has more warm brown and golden colors. In keeping with my impromptu theme for the Discovery, I'm calling this quilt "Defiant". That's also a name for a star ship in the Star Trek-universe - a sister ship to the famous Enterprise. And it starts with a D, just like Discovery. And it fits, since I've tried to defy the whole you-can't-really-sew-in-bed.

Turns out, you can. But you get sore arm muscles.

PLEASE ask permission BEFORE you PUBLICLY copy anything from my blog.

All images, all my text, and content that I specifically haven't referenced as belonging to someone else on this site are my property and they cannot be used, copied or transmitted without my consent.

The exception here is Pinterest, because I give you permission to pin my photos there IF YOU CITE THEM AS COMING FROM THIS BLOG AND THUS FROM ME.

I understand that Pinterest is useful for saving tutorials and photos for quilting inspiration, because I use it that way myself, and I'm okay with you doing that too - but PLEASE: "cite when you write". Give the creator some credit, will you?
I have nothing against you trying to make something similar, or even selling it, but I'd like to get some credit for being your inspiration. Why? Well, because lots of crafts are passed down from person to person, and it feels nice to be able to say "yes, I taught you how to make that".

What I DON'T LIKE is you flat out stealing my photos and my written text.
