I think it might make me more consistent with trying to stay under 40 euros a month on quilting supplies. Then came June.... and I had to leave Vasa for nearly a week to go to Hanko and complete two intensive courses in pedagogy. With me, I took some hand sewing EPP blocks for both R(ed) is for Rita and my Secret Hearts quilt.  I took the most boring pieces I could with me - just so I would be forced to finish them if I had any leftover time. I didn't have time to second hand/thrift shop for anything other than one pair of pants! Because I sorely needed a pair! Such is life when you pack in a hurry... Look! More shelves for fabrics! (I know, I know, the rest is a mess, but that’s because I desperately moved stuff from the living room table to the studio before I thought I should take a photo of the new shelves...) After seeing Lorena using ordinary card board to organizing her fabric stash , I wanted to try it out on my stash too. I’m glad I did, even if it meant a LOT of re-folding my fabrics and cleaning up in the studio. I even had to figure out a way to fit those shelves in the studio. Which meant moving around a lot of stuff and then vacuuming away all the mini dust bunnies and fabric threads that suddenly saw daylight. One thing I started to see immediately, was that I have a LOT of floral fabrics. Like, at least 20 fabrics. Now, the thing to keep in mind is that I usually buy fabric in second hand stores and flea markets, so I usually just take what I find. But it was still interesting to notice that. I've managed to clean a little in my studio. As I wrote previously, I'm making one of my goals for 2018 to get the floor in the studio empty of "stuff", because it will be easier to clean the studio then. Fabric and sewing creates a lot of dust, so it would be nice to be able to remove it by vacuuming. And it would be really nice to get some leg-room under the desk, too. So, last you saw, I had a bunch of Ikea "Samla"-boxes up on the shelf, filled with various fabrics etc. How it looked on January 8th. I had a lot of jersey, denim and denim scraps under the desk, and I wanted those gone. As I started to go through those boxes on the right, I found a lot of badly folded fabric to make clothes of and a lot of fabric I'd rather have cut up into usable pieces and strips.
