Linnea 'Ea' quilts...

The semi-official theme I've kinda chosen for my focus this year is  hand-sewing . Lots of American bloggers seem hard on having these "words of the year", but I think I'm gonna stick to my "crafting themes of the year" instead ;) ⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟ July was a bit hectic, in my very honest opinion. I've been trying to manage all the things that should preferably be done before the school semester starts on September 1st. Like me having to find and move into a temporary apartment. I already have six boxes packed, and if I don't get an already furnished room, I'm taking one of our beds, my office chair, a desk, some lamps. You know, just the basics. Thank goodness I'll still be living at home with my family most of the time, but you can't really commute 400 km every day on a shoestring budget. Since I knew that I was going to need some hand-sewing projects to take with me for our family's summer vacation trips during the summer, I tried during April-May to prepare blocks and templates for as many of my EPP (English paper piecing) projects as I had time for. (Like in the photo above, where I'm trying to mend my daughter's unicorn horn and stitching on some blocks for Secret Hearts .) If you check my current WIPs and UFOs in April , I had a total of 6 active(ish) EPP projects at the start of summer: the Second Christmas quilt ( started ) R(ed) is for Rita ( started ) My Secret Hearts 2019 birthday quilt ( started ) The ”Lucy’s Terrace”-quilt ( not yet started ) A spring/summer version of the Kingfisher quilt ( not yet started ) the Farmer's Wife 1920 quilt ( not yet started ) Since then, I must say it’s nice to see how much progress you get done if you happen to have everything prepped and ready to sew. Lots of American bloggers seem hard on having these "words of the year", but I think I'm gonna stick to my "crafting themes of the year" instead ;) ⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟ June has been so busy for my family: me taking two pedagogy courses at Hangö Sommauni in Hanko and trying to get school work for that done, us spending Midsummer week at a rented cabin close to my parents, and me trying to find time to quilt. After having to gradually cut down on my dosage on the depression medication, I'm finally rid of it. Hopefully, the good it did will stay, and the bad side-effects will go away. It does feel odd though, being able to NOT having to eat snacks all the time to keep up my blood sugar, and NOT having to go to bed at 21:00 at the latest every evening. I've really been using sewing as a kind of escape from the withdrawal symptoms, I'll readily attest to that. I've had weird days and bad days and good days. My back suddenly also wanted in on the party, so during the last week in May I had to eat painkillers some days to be able to be up at all. But, sewing as a distraction ...
