My quilty resolutions of 2018

Image
When I started blogging again in January (after not having blogged for years before that) I most pointedly didn’t share or write a post about what New Year’s resolutions I had made for 2018. But maybe I should have. I did write then down, see, on a small note. And I stuck that note on my notice board in the studio, and there it has been gently reminding me all year long what I promised I’d try to do. Since I wrote it in Swedish, I’ll just translate it into English for you all: Get the floor space in the studio cleared. Keep my quilt planner updated. Get the notice board cleared. Sort the buttons. Sort and get rid of all the old thread. Finish all the remaining color block quilts. Finish 12 other quilts during 2018. So, how did I do? Which of these have I managed to hold during the year? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Get the floor space in the studio cleared. Well, I got rid of a lot of crafting materials (and some things that were just plain junk) that w...

My quilting WIPs and UFOs in December 2018

One month has passed since the last update on my projects, so I thought I'd write down a little on how far I've gotten on all of them. This is the last update for all my projects this year, and I’m thinking of continuing next year too with  this regular posting  about how work on my WIP:s and UFO:s are continuing. It keeps me on track, and it’s nice to see how much I get done during a month. During December, the month started with me having the muscles in my right thumb really aching and sore. I blame Rainbow Scraps for that. It was already the second time I had gotten that particular problem, and I knew the only thing I could do to have it get better was NOT to use my hand. So, it meant no hand-sewing. No crafting. Basically, trying to use the hand as little as possible (which was nearly impossible) and having to eat ibuprofen and the like. Yuck, how boring that whole episode was. Then, my son got an eye infection. Then my daughter got it, and of course me too. A...

My quilting WIPs and UFOs in November 2018

One month has passed since the last progress update on my projects, so I thought I'd write an update on how far I've gotten on all of them. During November, we started out the month with daycare flu twice and ended the month with getting the flu vaccination. Still, the days when we were well, I tried getting as much sewing done on my projects as I possibly could. I also felt well (and motivated enough) to start cleaning up in my small closet studio. I saw this video  Lorena made about organizing her fabric by wrapping it around normal card board, that she cut out from ordinary boxes. So, I did that too. Visa det här inlägget på Instagram Tonight, I’m joining @charmaboutyou for the #saturdaynightcraftalong. Tonight, I’m hoping you other crafters have had more fun than me this evening. Because I’ve been cleaning in my little closet studio. 3 h worth of cleaning. Why? Well, I saw this video on YouTube about ...

My quilting WIPs and UFOs in October 2018

One month has passed since the last progress update on my projects, so I thought I'd write an update on how far I've gotten on all of them. During October, we had daycare flu after daycare flu in the family. It felt like I spent the majority of the month walking around in my PJs and wiping snot running like crazy from the children's small  noses. The whole week of Autumn Break (höstlov in Swedish) was spent with the whole family having the flu. The kids were starting to get cabin fever from it all. Still, the days when we were well, I got a lot of projects done. I finished my Kingfisher quilt. I finished two of the Color Block quilts with really simple quilting and sent them to their recipients. I finished my One Block Wonder quilt and gifted it to one of my very dear friends. I finished the Christmas quilt. So, on the quilting front, some projects have been moved from WIP to finished, from UFO to WIP, and vice versa. The lists are fluid that way. The f...
