Stash update January 2019

~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am a bit behind on listing what quilting supplies I've bought, so I will just list them here so I can get an accurate account of them. They're the things I've bought during January, and most of them are related to the Hand Pieced QAL, because I needed more needles and thread and things to try to use for hand-quilting. I bought more needles, both sharps and short quilting ones.  I lucked out at Eurokangas, and found three fabrics that will fit both in the "Red is for Rita" and my "Second Christmas"-quilt. Polyester batting, 150 g thick, to be used for one color block quilt. Embroidery floss at the Folkhälsan "Retro Bazaar" flea market. And these were the colors in the small bags. ~~~~~~~~~~~ (Halonen)   ?        Clover sashiko thimble 3.50     Clover sharps applique needles, size 12    ?       Gutermann Mara 120, color 800 (white) 2.00     Hemline qui
My quilting WIPs and UFOs in January 2019
Image
It's a new year. New possibilities, and new experiences to be had in quilting. The semi-official theme I've kinda chosen for my focus this year is hand-sewing . (Lots of American bloggers seem hard on having these "words of the year". I think I'm gonna stick to my "crafting themes of the year" instead ;) I already have lots of projects in my WIP:s to start with that hand-sewing; R is for Rita , the Second Christmas quilt , the Discovery quilt (of the Hand Pieced QAL), the Sashiko quilt , the Summer Kingfisher quilt ...... Lots have also happened on the quilting front since New Year, starting with my inflamed hand getting better. I moved all the planned quilts I had written about in to the WIP section here under, even if some of them clearly will be UFO:s for a while because of the sheer amount of WIP:s I currently have going on. ⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟⧟ These are my WIPs 1. My quilting bucket list
I caved in. And wrote a quilting bucket list to add to my blog pages . Why? Well, partly to inspire myself, but more importantly to be able to remember my quilting journey and all the things it has taught me. Happy quilting, everyone :)
Hand Pieced QAL 2019 - block 1
Image
Here’s my version of Block 1 in the Hand-Pieced QAL. Block info: 16-patch the squares were scraps from the brown and yellow scrap bins, the dusky pink and brown with the large flower prints were a thrift store find and I had yardage of it in my stash. block cut with regular rotary cutter + rulers, then sewn with Guterman Mara 120 (100% polyester) in color 800 and 1 (had to swap because the last I had of the white 800 ran out). link to block construction post link to link-up blog post I’ve decided that I’m going to call this quilt ”Discovery”, because I’m on this journey of discovering hand-sewing techniques during 2019...and incidently also because I happened to be watching season 2 episode 2 of the Star Trek: Discovery series while I was choosing the final fabrics. What I'm working on - whatever I can do
Hello everybody! Hope you had a nice celebration of the New Year, and that you weren't too tired on January 1st 2019 to enjoy that holiday to the fullest. Me, I spent that day with a slight fever. Yeah, I started my new year with fever. And the whole of December was just one flu after another, and together with my right hand's thumb's muscles being inflamed it all was just one thing to just endure after another. *sigh* But! Since I couldn't hand sew anything, I tried doing whatever small thing I could. I pulled down the loose odd blocks I had on my design board, and put up the blocks for English Teatime  and the second Christmas quilt  on it. Above you can see the blocks for the first. And here are the second's. I -so- need to get some more of that red fabric. I've tried to figure out how to do the quilt scrappy with different reds, but it just starts to look horrible. So, I -need- to find more of that fabric. I planne
