Craft courses 2018: Making jewelry from recycled materials

I'm attending a short course at Vaasa Opisto, held by Anne Viinikka. It's about making jewelry from recycled materials. Only thing I don't like about the course is that it is TOO SHORT. I would have been more than fine with it lasting a whole semester, let alone the two days it's going to take! Anne is a great teacher, she's funny and her jewelry is inspirational.

This was the first time in, well, I think it might have been at least three years since I've made some jewelry.

And I noticed straight away how rusty my skill with the pliers were.

*sigh*

Anyway, I had some specific projects in mind when I arrived to the course, and I got inspiration for one more when I saw the pieces Anne presented.

The first was this necklace that I needed to put a clasp on. I've had it in a small plastic bag for nearly two years now, I think. Putting a clasp lock and a name-tag on went rather quickly. Why on Earth did I wait so long to do it?

Then, the second of them were what I wanted to do with these bracelets with red stones. I got them for 5 euros second hand while browsing through one of the outdoor flea market vendor's goods in Rauma. It was at the same time I bought all these things here, but since they weren't sewing related I didn't include them in that blog post.

They had rubber Opelon-type thread in them, so they fit really well around your wrist. But when you wore them, they felt clunky and cold. Not the type of bracelets you'd want to wear for long.

I didn't get all of it finished, but I wanted to make a bracelet + earrings + necklace set out of them. I was still planning how I wanted the necklace to look when it was time to pack up, so this is how far I got.

Earrings and bracelet done, and and outline for the necklace. Not to bad for 2.5 hours jewelry session.

Have a nice day! Today - here in Vaasa - it's raining, but inside our house it's warm, and I'm about to start quilting on my One Block Wonder quilt.

PLEASE ask permission BEFORE you PUBLICLY copy anything from my blog.

All images, all my text, and content that I specifically haven't referenced as belonging to someone else on this site are my property and they cannot be used, copied or transmitted without my consent.

The exception here is Pinterest, because I give you permission to pin my photos there IF YOU CITE THEM AS COMING FROM THIS BLOG AND THUS FROM ME.

I understand that Pinterest is useful for saving tutorials and photos for quilting inspiration, because I use it that way myself, and I'm okay with you doing that too - but PLEASE: "cite when you write". Give the creator some credit, will you?
I have nothing against you trying to make something similar, or even selling it, but I'd like to get some credit for being your inspiration. Why? Well, because lots of crafts are passed down from person to person, and it feels nice to be able to say "yes, I taught you how to make that".

What I DON*T LIKE is you flat out stealing my photos and my written text.
